Joseph James Kubiet, Jr., 86, of Monongah, died Tuesday February 19, 2013 at the John Manchin, Sr. Health Care Center. He was born October 29, 1926 in Detroit, MI, son of the late Joseph J. Kubiet, Sr. and Laura (Bucy) Kubiet.

Joseph was employed by Bethlehem Coal Company and retired from Patriot Coal Company. He was also formerly employed by Fairmont State University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII, and was part of the first outfit to occupy Japan. Joseph enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, and was an avid fisherman, Hunter, and Gardener.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris (Lane) Kubiet; a brother Leo Kubiet and wife Jean of Largo, FL; a sister Margie Whitehair of Dayton, OH; He was also blessed with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Willliam and Eugene Kubiet.
