Alena Kay
(Kelley) Ashby
Jul 10, 1972 — Oct 30, 2025
Alena Kay (Kelley) Ashby, 53, of Fairmont, WV passed away October 30, 2025. She was born July 10, 1972 in Wiloughby, OH; the daughter of the late Norma Jane Jarrett and Stepfather, Maynard Lee Jarrett. Alena is survived by Robert by Price (father of her children); stepfather, Maynard Jarrett; brother, Norman Kelley and sister, Diana Foley and fiancé, Clif Tennant.
She is also survived by her children, Ryan A. Rush, Zachary L. Kelley, Alexius J. Price, Robert A. Price, and Sierra N. Varner (John Varner); several grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Alena was preceded in death by Jerry Ashby (husband), Norma Jarrett (mother), Gene Kelley (brother), Patrick Foley (brother-in-law), Reverend Archie Cool (grandfather) and Reverend Erma Jean Cool (grandmother).
Alena was raised in the small town of Fairview, WV. Her childhood was filled with love and little adventures that would dance through her head. In the summertime, you could hear the laughter and quarreling of her and her siblings. Fall was full of color. You could hear the echo of her laughter while playing and rustling through the leaves. Winter meant family gatherings. Her mom would string garland from each corner of the room, and the smell of cookies and pies would fill the home. Her mom would also go as far as taking Alena's oldest brother's socks to hang up to be filled with treats.
Life wasn't always easy for Alena. She struggled with anxiety, depression, and addiction throughout the years. This took a toll on her and finally took her life.
Alena would want us all to find good in everyone and remember the inner child and protect it at all costs.
