A TIME TO BE BORN
The Transformational Civil Rights Catalyst, Amy Rose Parks 80, was born July 4, 1940, in Fairmont, WV to (father) Albert Berry Sr. and (mother) Lucille Jacks Berry, both of which are now deceased. Amy was a lifelong resident of the Chesapeake community of Fairmont, WV, where she grew up, raised her children, and lived a life full of passion, adventure, humanity, and spirituality. She was a good steward of the neighborhood showing loyalty, love, and kindness.
Amy was a passionate lifelong member of Welcome Baptist Church, where Amy served for 75 years holding several positions. She was a member of the Tygart Valley Baptist Association Mission, "Women in White." Amy attended The Historic Dunbar School, a segregated school for African Americans during the Jim Crowe era. Amy attended Fairmont Senior High School shortly after the ending of segregation.
A TIME TO LOVE
Amy was married to the deceased, John Henry Parks, father to six of her children. She shared a special relationship with the deceased, Fredrick Carter, father to her youngest child. Amy was the family matriarch with many titles in her family. She will be remembered as a Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin, and beloved friend, as well as the mother of four sons and two daughters. Amy was a fierce leader, a Titian for human rights and social justice advocate. She lived her life on her terms. Amy was known and loved for her tenacity, generosity, and her ability to effectuate change. She was a voice for the people, a truth-teller, and a counselor. Her work made her a change agent for her community, and she was well respected far and wide from dignitaries to the common man. Her contributions to her local community and our society are endless.
A TIME TO TREASURE
Amy was the seventh of nine children; the living siblings Include: Gloria Robinson, Houston TX, Idalia Colbert, Jackson FL, Mary Julia Hunter (Ronald) Detroit, MI, and Albert Berry Jr. Milwaukee, WI (Pricilla). She leaves treasured memories of her life to her loving Family including two living daughters Jaqueline E. Parks(1) of Cleveland, OH, Grandson William (Will), Wynder, Denver CO (father William Wynder) Great Granddaughter, Athena Wynder, Denver, CO. Romelia C. Hodges (7) (husband, Patrick Hodges) Grandsons Dre' Hodges, Deacon Hodges and one Granddaughter Dazzellyn Hodges all of Fairmont, WV. Three living sons Antonio (Tee) Parks (2) (Wife, Valerie), three Granddaughters Kemyauna Johnson Zertie, Atlanta, GA, Ariana Parks, Tallahassee Fl, Briana Parks, Los Angeles. Two Grandsons Zavier Parks, Atlanta GA, Great Grandsons, twins Khaza and Khazi Parks Dollragues, Izayah Parks, Augusta, GA, (their mother , Michelle Parks Atlanta, GA). Delbert C. Parks,(4) (fiancé Yvonne) Denver, Co, granddaughter Amber Parks, (mother, Pamela Parks, Denver CO), Great Granddaughter Heiress Arguello. Daniel A. Parks,(6) Los Angeles, CA. She is joined at the gate to be reunited with two children Joseph R. Parks (3) and Darla L. Parks (5). Amy's Family extended beyond her immediate family to a host of nieces and nephews and cousins. The Family would like to recognize her Godchild, Gaynell Clay and the children she adored as her own; son John (Randall) Shabazz, Wallace Hood, daughters Lajuana Logan, and Gina Vanpelt, The Family would like to extend a special mention to the F.A.B. 5. The women of the HEAT office of which all are now deceased. Sis Joan Clay, Sis Gwendolyn Moore, Sis Dorothy Moore, and Sis Lillie Bell Hinton. The Family would also like to thank all the women in whom she held an unforgettable sisterhood throughout the years. We want to acknowledge the Evans Family for accepting Amy Rose as a sister; their bond was a beautiful example of true sisterhood full of love and encouragement. We, the Family, would like to extend our gratitude to Amy's Sister Mary Julia Hunter. She has been a constant confident, encourager, and a caregiver in a time when Amy needed her most. We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to our cousin, who we know and love as a brother Ronald Hunter who has never wavered in his love for her.
A TIME TO REST
Amy Rose Parks now dwells in the shelter of the Most High. She will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. He is her refuge and her fortress, our God, in whom our Family entrusts. Amy departed this life on August 4, 2020, after a prolonged battle with breast cancer. She was mighty in battle and fought the good fight. She trusted in the Lord, resolute, and was carried away on the wings of angels on that faithful day, in her home. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Albert and Lucille Berry, brothers, James, Alphonzo, and Rastine Berry, one half-sister Soloma Monroe, and one sister Alberta Gray. She is joined at the gate to be reunited with two children Joseph R. Parks, and Darla L. Parks, one niece Linda Gray, one nephew Ronnie Berry Jr.
A TIME TO CELEBRATE

Due to C.O.V.I.D. 19 precautions, viewing for the public will be held at Domico from 9 am to 10:30 am. The Family will participate in an intimate Homegoing Service on August 13, 2020, beginning at 11:00 am at Evergreen Cemetery. The services will be live-streamed to the public via Facebook, beginning at 11:00 am on the family member's pages and F.A.M. Time will be provided during services for community members and friends to stream in and share their remarks. The Pastor Rev. Paul Mitchell of The Welcome Baptist Church, Chesapeake Community, will officiate the Homegoing ceremony. Eulogy will be provided by the Rev. William Robinson (nephew), Huston TX. If you would like to share a remark, please ask to share your screen or leave condolences on the live stream. Interment is entrusted to Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery.
