Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Garcia, age 76, of Pennsboro, WV, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at home with his wife by his side. He was born in Danbury, CT, the son of the late Juan and Manola Garcia.

He was a graduate of Danbury High School in Connecticut and a Vietnam Era Veteran, serving as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 1965-1969. He later graduated from Fairmont State College in Fairmont, WV in 1979. That same year, he began employment with Consolidated Natural Gas which became Dominion Resources, Inc. from which he retired as Manager of Appalachian Gas Supply in April 2010. He attended Riddle's Chapel in Harrisville, WV.

He was an avid bowler who bowled on Fairmont State's Team and was an officer in many bowling leagues in Fairmont and was Vice President in the City Bowling Association and the initial Vice President of the Marion-Taylor Bowling Council. He was a Manager of several teams over a ten year period in the Fairmont Little League. He also played on the College Lunch softball team for several years.

He was a member of the VFW Post 629 and FOE 2373. He also enjoyed playing golf and cards with his friends and doing his best to make them laugh. He always cherished the moments he could spend with his loving sons and grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, John and Joseph; and sisters, Adela Gomes and Teddi Stefansen.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy of Pennsboro, WV; sons, Anthony, Jr. ("TJ") of Morgantown, WV, Keith of Fairmont, WV; and their mother, Doris of Fairmont, WV; grandchildren, Anton, Sophia, and James, and their mother, Shannon; step-sons, Joshua and Isaiah Davis; step-grandchildren, Jonas, Jaelyn, and Silas Davis of Pennsboro, WV. Along with several nieces and nephews; in-laws, Robert and Carol Ocheltree of Parkersburg, WV.

Tony is also survived by long time special friends, George and Ginny Layton and Doris Saporito.

In lieu of flowers, his wish would be to make donations to WVU Children's Hospital in his memory.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, WV, on Sunday, October 9, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. The service will be at the funeral home on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Gregg Martin officiating.
