Obituary

Bennet Edward Haught, 70, of Fairview, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Pleasant Acres Christian Haven. Ben was born in Fairview on July 12, 1948, son of the late Stanley and Nola Haught.

He graduated from Fairview High School in 1966 and continued on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Fairmont State College.

Ben was married to Cathie Straight on December 19, 1969; they were married for 49 years.

Ben worked as an Industrial Education teacher from 1970-1971 in Switzerland of Ohio School District. He worked for Fairview Furnace & Sheet Metal, Inc. from 1972-2018, where he was Vice President from 1972-1984 and President from 1984-2018.

He was a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society for 36 years. A member of 4 Society registered quartets, winning multiple awards.

Ben was a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ, serving as a Deacon, Elder, and Bible class teacher. His hobbies included fishing, woodworking, and Barbershop Quartet singing.

Ben is survived by his wife, Cathie Haught; his children, Brian Haught and wife Natalie of Parkersburg and Jamie Christy and husband Gale; one brother, Stan Haught and wife Rhonda; one sister, Sharon Houghton and husband Delmas; three grandchildren, Bennet Haught, Holly Haught, and Macy Snider.

In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Aaron L. Snider.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Pleasant Acres Christian Haven, 41 Pleasant Acres Drive, Fairmont, WV 26554.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, Curry Chapel, 100 Grant Street in Fairview, on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Evangelist Peter Ray Cole officiating.
