Betty Asterino, 90, of Fairmont, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019. She was born April 28, 1929 in Holbrook, PA, daughter of the late Fred Fordyce and Leona Hoge Fordyce. She celebrated her 90th birthday on Sunday, April 28th, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Betty graduated from Fairmont General Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She was employed as a Recovery Room nurse, as an office nurse for Dr. Delbert Smith, and retired as a Public Health Nurse after 10 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Betty is survived by her children, Pia Ann Robison, Pamela Pitrolo and her husband Charles, Victoria Markley and her husband John, and Tyrone Asterino; grandchildren, Natlie Bright and her husband Buck, Logan Markley and his wife Brittany, Megan Pitrolo, Tylyn Asterino, Gavin Asterino; great grandchildren, Julianna Bright, Emilia Bright, and Theo Bright.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Gloria Allen, who was Mother's companion/care giver while she was living in Wilmington, NC.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine Herrod, and brother, Donald Fordyce.
The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Joseph Konikattil as celebrant.
