Obituary

Betty Lou Fluharty, 84, of Fairview, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, December 27, 2025. After a beautiful family Christmas filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories Betty rested in her favorite recliner and gently went home—welcomed into eternity to spend the New Year reunited with the Lord and her loving son, Jeff, and husband, Ike. Betty was born in Fairview on August 10, 1941, a daughter of the late Berle Tennant and Helen Romaine Wright Tennant.

Betty Lou was an active member of Haught Chapel Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher, treasurer, and taught basket weaving classes during VBS for many years. She was an avid crafter, scrapbooker, exceptional cook, and devoted her life to her family for over 32 years after her husband passed away. When she wasn't making Sunday dinner after Church, sugar cookies, or countless grilled cheese sandwiches for her grandchildren she was taking them to her cabin at Seneca Rocks or watching them swim in her pool. She spent most summer evenings sitting in Sue's backyard with her sisters, brothers, and extended family sharing memories and visiting. She lived her entire life in the Haught Chapel community and helped carry on her mom's tradition of Sunday family picnics.

Betty is survived by her children, Doug Fluharty and his fiancée Ginger, Kim Sanders and her husband Doug; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Fluharty; grandchildren, Clay (Katie), Lacey, Chelsea (Tim), Caitlin (Chazz), Logan (Hannah), and Hannah (Collin); great grandchildren, Mia, Ikie Lane, Lawson, Eloise, Ozzlynn, and Novalynn; siblings, Sue (Jerry), Judy, Rick (Terri), and Randy; sister-in-law, Margie; special niece, Shelly; several other nieces and nephews; and friends, Dan, Liz, Adam, and Taryn.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ike; son, Jeff; infant daughter, Melissa; great grandchildren, Heath, Ophelia, and Oliver; and a brother-in-law, Donnie.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home – Curry Chapel, 100 Grant Street in Fairview, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Betty will lie in state at Haught Chapel Church on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The service will be at Haught Chapel Church on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Linda Friend officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Fairview Civic Club to care for and maintain the Fairview Cemetery, PO Box 64 Fairview, WV 26570 or Haught Chapel Church, 26 Log Cabin Lane, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
