Obituary

Betty Jo Tippner, 81, of Fairmont, WV, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, at United Hospital Center with her loving husband by her side.

Born on July 14, 1944, in Fairmont, WV Betty Jo was the daughter of the late Joe and Mary Gregor. She was a 1962 graduate of Farmington High School and a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Farmington, where she faithfully served as President of the St. Peter's Women's Society for many years.

Fondly known as "The Aunt," Betty Jo was beloved for her kind heart, gentle humor, and unwavering thoughtfulness. She never missed a birthday or holiday, always sending cards that brought smiles and comfort. Her chocolate chip cookies were a legendary favorite among family and friends-even though she shared her recipe, none ever quite matched hers.

Betty Jo is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, George Tippner ("The Uncle"), and her only sister, Carolyn Jones of Farmington. She also leaves behind her loving nieces and nephews: Leisha Elliott (Samuel, Grant, Mary, and Adam), Lori Jones (Madison, Mackenzie, and Merideth), Leslie and Greg Vanzant (Reese), John and Amy Jones (Caroline and Kennedy), Kristie and Eric Weber (Theo and Ethan), Michael and Karen Tippner (Benjamin and Julianne, and David and Maria Tippner (Rocco).

She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Linda Tippner and extended family, Suzie and Gabe Neff (Rachel and Kevin).

In addition to her parents, Betty Jo was preceded in death by her in-laws, Francis and Bill Tennant, brother-in-law, John Jones, and nephews, Nelson Elliot and Chris Jones.

Visitation will be held at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue, Fairmont, on Wednesday, July 23, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with Vigil Rites at 6:30 p.m. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1304 Mill Street, Farmington, on Thursday, July 24, at 10:00 a.m., with Father Abraham officiating.
