Obituary

Surrounded by his family, Billie "Bill" James Tennant left his place on Earth to enter into eternal life, on Saturday, September 14th, 2024.

He was the last of 11 children. The son of the late Learny Dice and Bertha Mae (Wilson) Tennant.

Bill began working at Weirton Steel in 1951, but was drafted to the Army 3 months later. He was stationed in Japan for a year and then transferred to Korea where he served his country with honor on the front lines. When he left, he was a Staff Sergeant.

He married Thelma Jean Statler in October of 1954. They lived in Chester, WV and raised their family until Bill retired after 33 years at Weirton Steel. They then relocated to Fairview, WV.

He was the handyman of Fairview for many years. If he didn't have the tool or know how to fix something, no one did! He was easy going, never complained about anything, and would do anything for anyone.

Tennant and his wife Ronda of Fairview; daughter, Judith Cox of Fairview; and daughter, Debbie Stahl and her husband Robert of Worthington; a step-son, Matt Moody; 12 grandchildren, Jamie Parrish, Casey Pyecha, Troy Tennant, Theresa Cox, Veronica "Roni" Peasak, Larry B. Cox, Jr., Roger D. Stewart, Michael J. Stewart, Melissa D. Cornell, Amber K. Moody, Renee Eastham, and Jarrod Moody; 26 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Thelma Jean Statler; his step-son, John G. Moody; his adopted niece, Jackie Dunlap; son-in-law, Larry Cox; and great granddaughter, Lainey Joan Tennant; and all of his siblings, Helen Tennant, Learny Tennant, Jr., Margorie Kiger, Violet Conner, Pansy Butcher Lowther, Homer Tennant, Mavis Lantz, Stanley Tennant, Jean Berry, and Ivan Dwayne "Bud" Tennant.

Honorary Pall Bearers: Troy Tennant, Colton Savors-Cox, Braden Tennant, Preston Peasak, Eric Savors, and JJ Parrish.
