Obituary

Bonnie Jean Michael Hood, 97, of Fairmont, passed away Monday, October 25, 2021. She was born March 26, 1924 in Rivesville, WV, a daughter of the late Roy Jennings Michael and Ortolo Texie Tennant Michael.

She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church. She enjoyed West Virginia Travelers, Mountaineer Football, volunteering with the Central United Methodist Church, and keeping a beautiful home. She also enjoyed watching her beloved nephew, Punk Michael, coach for North Marion High School. She was a homemaker and a master baker. She was the ultimate caregiver for numerous family members. She cherished the role of being a wife, mother, aunt, sister, and friend.

Bonnie is survived by her twin daughters, Royce Hood and life partner Jimmy Applegate of Tampa, FL and Barbara Hood of Rivesville; brothers, Jack W. Michael of Pennsylvania, John L. Michael of Baxter, WV, and Richard Michael (Lynn) of Rivesville; sisters, Sally Reily of Yuma, AZ and Donna Morris (Robert) of Fairmont; even though she didn't have grandchildren of her own, these were her pseudo grandchildren, Ryleigh Nucilli-Hoover (Joe) of Reston, VA, Brooks Nucilli (Ciara) of Los Angeles, CA, Ivey Nucilli of Reston, VA, Nicholas Wertman of Los Angeles, CA, Joey, Sophie, and Carly Manchin of Fairmont, WV, Meredith Weaver (William) of Morgantown, WV, Katy (Benjamin) Austin of Atlanta, GA, Anna Tucker of Morgantown, WV, and twins Ben and Zac Brown of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Jennett Godby of Fairmont; and brother-in-law, William Walker of Fairmont, WV.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Hood who passed away November 20, 1998; her sisters, Betty Osbourne, Nancy Mikalojczyk, and Sue Walker; brothers, Jennings Michael, Davy Michael, and Ronnie Michael; and a special cousin, Mary Jo Michael.

The family would like to give thanks to Bonnie's caregivers, Fazio's Elder Care Home staff, Marion County Rescue Squad EMS Heras, Amedisys Hospice, and Loretta Sanders.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Central United Methodist Church (301 Fairmont Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554) and/or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105).

The family will receive friends at Damico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue, Fairmont, WV, on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The funeral will be on Friday at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown.
