Brenda Annice
Swiger
Jun 26, 1955 — Feb 10, 2019
Brenda Annice (Carr) Swiger, 63, of Fairview, WV went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 10, 2019. Born June 26, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Daniel K. and V. Kathryn Carr of Barrackville, WV. She attended Barrackville High School where she discovered her love and passion for playing and conducting music.
Ann's passion for music led her to pursue a degree in Fine Arts from Fairmont State. Playing and conducting music came second, only to her family, which she loved more than anything in her world. Ann was the conductor of the Fairview Community Band for several years. She spent her time teaching music to children and adults alike. She was a member of the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department where she selflessly served her community for over 20 years as an EMT and Crew Chief. Ann loved spending her free time with her children, volunteering at countless baseball and softball games as the EMT on the field in the event of any accidents or injuries. She never felt like her responsibilities as an EMT were a job, rather a duty she was so willing to fulfill.
Ann spent the past 20 plus years working for the Marion County Board of Education where she retired as a Kindergarten Aide at Fairview Elementary School this past November. Ann loved her kindergarteners and enjoyed teaching them various history facts and music. She would often bring her guitar in for the classroom and play it for their Christmas performances, as well as other special times throughout the year.
Ann is survived by her children, whom she loved with all of her heart: Wendi (Brad) Shahan of Grant Town, Joe Swiger, Katy Swiger, Becky (Brittany) Swiger all of Fairview, as well as Brittany (Zak) Shaffer of Fairview whom she loved as one of her own children; 8 grandchildren: Ivie and Levi Shanan, Celeste and Sylvia Swiger, Gabrielle and Dominic Lamar (Swiger), and Carson and Parker Shaffer; her fur-grandbabies: Tuc, Mac, Cleo, Thunder and Raven; sisters Beverly Pompi of Cleveland, OH and B.J. Buccini of Panama City, FL, several other brothers and sisters that she recently reunited with after over 60 years apart, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Carla Ann Carr and LaDonna White, and her dog Daisy, whom she loved like her own child.
The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home – Curry Chapel, 100 Grant Street in Fairview, on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Duane Stiles officiating. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Fairview Middle School Band – 17 Jesses Run Road Fairview, WV 26570.
