Carl "Tate" Simms passed away Monday, September 25, at his home in Fairmont, WV. Tate was born November 12, 1962 to Carl V. Simms and the late Betty Jean Simms. Tate loved listening to his music, playing cards, and spending time with his family. Tate was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. Tate was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Simms; daughter, Bet'Jean Simms; and a grandson, Rheo Rollins.

He leaves to cherish his memory, and is survived by his life-partner, Priscilla Simms-Cox, of Fairmont, WV; his children, Yalanda Simms, Darnell (Danielle) Rollins, Carl V. Simms III, Samuel Rollins, Daron Cox, and Symone Stewart, all of Fairmont, WV; his siblings, Charles E. Simms, Sharleane Simms, Racquel (Billy) Horton, Jerome A. Tate, Lakisha (Charles) Elders, and Carl V. Waites.

Known as "PAP PAP," he is also survived by his grandchildren, Tino Cartwright, Latony Cartwright, Tydarius Cartwright, Lavel Cartwright, Sidairius Justice, Katileia Rollins, William Rollins, Xavier Bryant, Syniah Rollins, Ryleigh Rollins, Saaliyah Stewart, Priscilla T. Cox, and Kevont Cox.

Nieces, Jamille Allen and Leilene Maddox; nephews, Anthony Simms, Ramahud York, DaJuan Simms, Pablo Horton, Billy Horton, Javon Horton, and Deileon Maddox.

Tate also leaves to cherish his memory, a host of additional nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The funeral will be at the funeral home on Friday at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Regina Riley officiating.
