Carolyn Maria DeLorenzo Michael was born April 14, 1944 to Angeline and Adolph "Arphine" Delorenzo in Fairmont, West Virginia. She passed away on August 12, 2019 in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia with complications of a long illness.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Robert and his wife Michelle Michael as well as her beloved grandsons, Elliot and Oliver Michael. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Sharon DeLorenzo; nephews, Rockie (Gina) DeLorenzo of Fairmont, David (Christine) DeLorenzo of Alexandria, VA; a niece, Gina (Eric) DeLorenzo-Disharoon of Hanover, PA. In addition, multiple cousins Brenda, Jeanne, Adrienne Pizatella, Rachel Pizatella-Haswell, Teila Pizatella, Terry Jo Lamp, cousins who were her best friends and companions and others too numerous to mention. Carolyn also leaves behind many lifelong friends from Fairmont Senior High School Graduating Class of 1961 and her long-time travel club. Carolyn was vigilant about keeping up on her long-time relationships and she will be missed by many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, David Michael; her in-laws, Ralph and Virginia Michael, her brother, Robert "Bob" DeLorenzo; her Pizatella uncles; and Mary Ann Pizatella with whom she and her brother Bob lived along with her parents in Watson.

Carolyn proudly attended Watson Elementary School, Fairmont Junior High School, Fairmont Senior High School (1961), and graduated from the Fairmont General Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. She and David moved to Charleston, WV where she was a surgical nurse and later, they moved to Toledo, OH where she worked in a surgical practice. "Rob" was born in Toledo in 1977. When he was still quite young, they relocated to Fairmont so that he could experience the love and care of a large extended family as she did in her childhood. Carolyn continued to practice nursing in a doctor's private practice, then as an Obsterrtics nurse at Fairmont General Hospital and later a home health nurse at the Marion County Health Department until her retirement when she left nursing to be the best "Grammy" ever to her grandsons Elliot (11) and Oliver (7).

Carolyn will forever be remembered for her passion for her Italian heritage and her continuing her mother's tradition of hospitality, cooking, baking, and never coming to any event without her special lemon lush, colorful "wedding" cookies, her potato salad or some new recipe she found on facebook. Also missed will be her chicken parm, and other Italian favorites. We will miss her beautiful voice, her unabashed love of her family and friends, many of whom celebrated her 75 ^th birthday in April at a surprise party hosted by Rob, Michelle, Elliot, and Oliver.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the funeral home on Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Vincent Joseph officiating.
