Obituary

Affectionately known as "Birdie-Bird," Charlean Jones Dobbs was born on August 31, 1947 to her parents James Jones and Mary Katherine Pate in Fairmont, WV. Raised in Jackson Addition, Charlean was deeply loved, cherished, and spoiled under the care of her father, James Jones, and her paternal grandparents, Willie Lee and Sirlena Jones. She shared a close bond with her two beautiful sisters, Arlena and Yvette Jones, and her brother, Vincent Jones.

Charlean was intelligent, beautiful, and very fashionable. She was talented and gifted, particularly in cooking, a passion she shared generously with everyone she knew. Her culinary skills were loved by all, and she enjoyed preparing meals for others. Charlean, being passionate about cooking, followed her dream of owning a restaurant and opened Char's Country Kitchen in Downtown Fairmont. She also attended the Wheeler School of Modeling in Pittsburgh, PA. She worked at Westinghouse for many years and before she retired she worked for Apple-Bees for over 15 years, Charlean would volunteer her time at the soup kitchen serving the homeless and she was a God fearing woman, she is a member at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. She volunteered to work with the Teen Summit Outreach Program and was an Usher in the church for many years.

Charlean had a profound love for animals, especially her Siamese cats and her collection of turtles. She attended Fairmont Senior High School, where she excelled and showcased her creativity by making glamorous wigs for her neighbors.

Charlean is preceded in death by her son William LaRue Dobbs; father James Jones; mother Mary Katherine Pate; paternal grandparents Willie Lee and Sirlena Jones; sister Arlena Jones; brother Vincent Jones; nephew DeVaughn Leon Goodrum; nephew Marvin Jones; niece Carmen Stevens.

Charlean will be remembered for her kind heart, vibrant personality, and the love she shared with everyone. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters  Bridgett Antwanette Dobbs, Rachael Dobbs, and Camille Dobbs; son Pastor James A. Jones and Shannon Jones, daughter Mary Sirlena Sims; sisters Yvette Jones, Vanessa Pate; brothers Stephen Pate; sister Dreama Lynne Anderson; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Morningstar Baptist Church, 100 McKinney Street in Fairmont, on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 11:00 am until 12:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Rev.
