Charles “Chuck” Arzane Freeland, 85, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026. He was born in Fairmont on January 31, 1941, a son of the late William A. Freeland and Brenda Miller Freeland.

Charles was a detective for the City of Fairmont for 24 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Norway. Charles was President of the FOP for many years and the State Trustee of the WV Lodge. Charles will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather.

Charles is survived by his wife of 64 years, Brenda Freeland; children, Larry Keith Freeland and his wife Gina of Fairmont, and Nina Renee Ringel and her husband Todd of California; grandchildren, Nathaniel Freeland and his wife Madison, Jacob Freeland and his wife Addie, Jonah Freeland, Haely Ringel, Harlow Ribgel, and Harper Ringel; and siblings, Barry Freeland and Barbara Lee Jackson.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brothers, William Arthur Freeland, Duane Freeland, and Robert Freeland.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Monday, July 20, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The service will be at the funeral home on Monday at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Grove Cemetery.
