Obituary

Charles "Porky" Mays, 54, of Fairmont, WV, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. at his home. He is survived by his loving fiancée, Donna "Hazel" Batson; step daughter, Kendra Batson and her boyfriend, Darrell Ledsome II; grandkids, Landon "Runt" Sigley, Darrell "Chubbolts" Ledsome III, of Fairmont, WV.

Porky was a great, loving life partner. As an unforgettable grandfather, he cherished his two grandchildren.

Porky attended North Marion High School.

Porky was a great hard-working man he was known for his great skills of tree trimming for 21 years at Asplundh. He gained his nickname "Butt Tie Pork" for his many skills. He was one man that wasn't afraid of jumping from tree to tree. He also had another great job at Target Drilling for 6 years.

He made a great friends over the years. He had an unforgettable personality. He always knew how to have a great time, loved cracking jokes, and could make you laugh. He also loved spending time at home. He was very proud of his garage. If you truly knew Porky, you know that's where he was on a nice day, truly any day, as long as it's not snowing. He loved being surrounded by many friends having a small fire, that was his idea of a great time.

He was always with his grandkids "Chudds and Runt." They are his life; they always kept his on his toes, always wanting Pap to come outside "watch me" jump, ride bikes, take them on the four wheeler, and dirt bikes. They kept him very active on the daily. Pap was always up for whatever they asked. He also loved going camping and fishing with everyone. It wasn't unheard of for everyone to be out for the week having a great time.

Surrounding him with love are his amazing friends and family. His loving father, Charles "Pete" Mays, Sr.; brothers, Larry Mays and his girlfriend LouAnn Slord of Mannington, Roy "Ugg" Mays and his girlfriend Shirley Boyd of Daybrook, and Garry Mays and Lille Mays of Daybrook; sisters, Paula "Bozy" McClain and husband Matt "Big Bodean" McClain, Dottie Carpenter and husband Bill Carpenter of Farmington; nieces, Ashlea Touville and husband Zach Touville of Waynesburg, PA, Danielle "Lil Bodean" McClain of Daybrook, Jennifer Barbe and husband Chris Barbe of Farmington, and Kyra Greynolds of Rivesville; nephews, Brian Tenney of Daybrook, Larry "Little Larry" Greynolds of Rivesville, and Jeremy Caswell and his girlfriend Trish Hibbs of Daybrook. Also surrounding are several aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with great nieces and nephews. Porky has some loving members close to his heart, Mary "Memaw" Quarterman, Justin "Big Guy" Park and fiancée Lacee "Lac" Lucas; four very close babies that he will always hold high through life of Grant Town, along with many friends.

Porky was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Lorraine Mays; maternal grandparents, Miss and Mr. Emma Taylor; paternal grandparents, Frances Fincham and Sherman Mays; aunts, Carolyn "Susie" Mays, Rosie Mays, Mary Ann Hinerman; and uncles, Jim Mays, Mike Ammons, Herk Gibson, Woody Whittach, and Billy Mays.

Per Porky's request, there will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmington at a later date. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com.
