Obituary

Christopher "Chris" Pierson, 52, of Fairmont took the Lord's hand and was lead home on July 17, 2024. He was born on February 21, 1972, to his mother, Sue Sampson and his late biological father, Ronald Person. However, Chris viewed his step-dad, Robert Sampson, as the man who stepped up and raised him from the age of nine, his real dad!

Chris graduated from North Marion High School special needs program in 1990. He was an avid participant in the Special Olympics and won many medals. Before the escalation of his illness, Chris enjoyed attending church with his family and hearing the choir sing.

Chris had many interests, including a strong love and passion for country music, polkas, watching Hee-Haw with his nan nan, car rides, spending time with his family, bowling, going to the zoo, cars, and trucks, and attending the Disability Action Center. Chris loved his animals and had a particularly close relationship with his dog, Cooper, who seemed to understand that Chris was special and always gentle and loving to him.

In addition to his biological father, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sylvia and Marvin McNeely, paternal grandparents, Bessie and Johnny Ashcraft, step-grandfather, Eugene Sampson, and one older brother, Michael Pierson.

In addition to his parents, Chris is survived by his loving sister, Jillian Sampson of Fairmont, his uncle Herb McNeely (Sheila) of Williamsburg, Virginia, aunts, Arlene Ukeiley, and Jeanette McNeely of Pahrump, Nevada, uncles, Eugene Sampson Jr (Donna) of Fairmont, West Virginia, Steven Moore (April) of Rivesville, West Virginia, along with several cousins. He is also survived by Sue Rowley, a very special caregiver and family friend for many years.

The family would also like to send their sincerest thanks and gratitude to the nurses of the MICU at Ruby Memorial Hospital-in particular, Lexi and Claire, along with Dan Gorden of Ruby Memorial's supportive care team-who were all blessings and God sends during such a difficult journey.

The family has entrusted arrangements to Domico Funeral Home in Fairmont, WV. Per the family's wishes, Chris will be cremated and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com.
