Claude “Junior” “Chooch” Domico Jr.

Claude Domico, 85, of Monongah, passed away peacefully at home with his wife and family by his side, Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Born in Monongah, Junior was the son of the late Elizabeth (Fazio) and Quintiliano Domico and one of 12 children, Junior was raised in a large family and carried that strong sense of family with him throughout his life.

Junior was the loving husband for 20 years to his wife Brenda, a devoted father to David, Paula and Christopher Domico, as well as his stepdaughters, Tammy Fox and Erin Riggs. He was a proud grandfather to Sara, Quintiliano, Chiara, Sophia, Gianni, Arabella, Averyona, and Olivia. Junior was preceded in death by his son, John David.

Junior worked for 31 years as a machinist at FMC/Eimco, where he built a long career through hard work and dedication.

His faith was an important part of his life. Claude was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Monongah and attended regularly. He was also a member of the VFW Post 629, Mannington Moose Lodge 1344, and Mannington Elks Lodge 388. He was a strong supporter of the men and women who protect and serve with the West Virginia State Police.

Outside of family, Junior had plenty of things he loved. He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed watching West Virginia Mountaineers and cheering on the Cleveland Browns, playing pinochle and dominoes– both games he was convinced he could win against just about anybody.

In addition to his son, John David, Junior is preceded in death by his sisters Grace, Joann and Christine, and brothers Pete, Mingie, Patsy, and Louie.

Junior leaves behind his beloved wife Brenda, his children David and Andrea Domico, Paula Domico and Patrick Contraski, Christopher and Ashley Domico, Stepdaughters Tammy Fox and Erin Riggs, his eight grandchildren; surviving siblings Josephine Vestpoint, Nancy Thomas, Joe Domico, and Jimmy Domico; several nieces and nephews and a very large extended family; as well as countless friends who became family along the way.

His absence will be felt deeply. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, lessons, and memories that will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Chooch will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Family and Friends will be received at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Monongah with Father Romeo M. Bacalso (frequently referred to as Father Meo).
