Obituary

David S. Elder, Jr. 80, of Barrackville, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 16, 1942, in Fairmont, the son of the late David Selvie Elder and Mildred (Nuzum) Elder.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 61 years Janet Anne Elder; his daughters Tracy Copley and Danica (Brian) Raddish; sisters Sarah (Dorsey) Cheuvraunt of Parkersburg, Betty Lou (Jim) Tennant of North Carolina; sister-in-law Joan (Gary) Michael; brother-in-law Michael Graziani; grandchildren Matt Copley, Alexis Copley, Chandler (Breanna) Raddish, Carson Raddish; great-grandchild Riggs David Raddish; numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat and best friend, Jax.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his brother Paul (Nellie) Elder; sisters Maryanne (Fred) Pica, Sharon Graziani, Patty (Burt) Bundy, Peg (Victor) Cianfrocca, Sue Ellen Elder who passed away at birth, sister-in-law Marilyn (Jack) Mullins, and mother and father in- law Omar and Lilyan McGee.

David was in the United States Army Reserves. He was a former employee of General Motors, and a self-employed Contractor. He also enjoyed flipping many houses. He was a Christian by faith and enjoyed watching Joel Osteen preach.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to David. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and other outdoor activities. His greatest joy was spending quality time with his family and he was blessed to have recently celebrated his eightieth birthday with all his family at home. He will be missed by many and was a stranger to no one. His legacy will live on through his family and all those who were privileged to have known him.

The family has entrusted arrangements to Domico Funeral Home in Fairmont. The Visitation will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Domico Funeral Home. The Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Matt Holbert Officiating. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com.
