In Loving Memory of Debra Miller

Debra Miller, 66, of Fairmont, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on September 2, 2026, surrounded by the people who meant the most to her—her children.

Debra was a devoted mother, loving grandmother, hardworking woman, and a true force of nature. She possessed a strong spirit, a generous heart, and a personality that was unmistakably her own. Family was the center of her world, and more than anything, Debra lived for her children. They were her greatest joy and deepest source of pride. Her love for them was fierce, unconditional, and unwavering, and she would do anything to protect, support, and encourage them.

Debra was the proud mother of four children: Jason Denbeigh, Joshua Denbeigh, Ashley Ashcraft, and Darrell Miller. She was also a loving grandmother to Lee Maestas, Colt Ashcraft, and Dustin Ashcraft. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest treasures. She cherished every connection with them and took immense pride in the people they were becoming. The love she gave her family will continue to live on through the memories they shared and the lessons she taught them.

Debra also had much to be proud of in her professional life. A strong and determined woman, she broke barriers by becoming one of the first few female welders with Pipeliners Local Union 798 out of Oklahoma. At a time when welding was overwhelmingly a man’s profession, Debra earned her place through courage, perseverance, hard work, and skill. She never allowed obstacles or expectations to define what she could accomplish.

Never one to stop challenging herself, Debra later advanced in her career and became a welding inspector. Her accomplishments were a great source of pride and reflected the qualities that guided her throughout life—independence, determination, resilience, and an unwavering willingness to meet every challenge head-on.

Anyone who knew Debra knew that she was feisty. She had a strong personality, a quick spirit, and the courage to speak her mind. She was not easily intimidated and never pretended to be anyone other than herself. That fire was an essential part of who she was and made her unforgettable to everyone who knew and loved her. Beneath her feisty exterior was a tender heart and a deep capacity for love. She cared fiercely, stood firmly by the people she loved, and gave her family a lifetime of strength and devotion.

Debra was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Marilyn Cutright, and her father, Ronald Dunning. She is survived by her brother, Allen Sawitski. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is reunited with the loved ones who went before her, while holding close the many memories she leaves behind.

Debra leaves behind a legacy of strength, determination, perseverance, and, most importantly, love. She showed that a woman could enter a man’s world, hold her own, and succeed through courage and hard work. Her life was a testament to the power of persistence and the importance of remaining true to oneself. Yet of all the titles Debra earned throughout her life—welder, inspector, mother, and grandmother—the one that mattered most to her was Mom.

Although saying goodbye leaves an emptiness that words cannot fill, Debra’s family will carry her with them always—in the stories they tell, the memories they share, the values she passed down, and the unmistakable feisty spirit that made her so special. Her presence will be remembered in the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the family she held so close.

She was a trailblazer.

She was hardworking.

She was feisty.

She was strong.

She loved fiercely.

And above all else, she was Mom.

Debra will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
