Obituary

Donald R. Luketic Sr. was called home to meet his lord and savior on Saturday April 20, 2024. Don was born in Marianna, PA on November 3, 1932, son of the late Joseph and Sophia Luketic.

Don was a Fairview High School graduate and a Korean War veteran. He worked as a coal miner for 43 years, and was an active member of the UMWA for over 70 years. Don served on the board of directors at the MVA Fairmont Clinic. Don was a faithful member of the St. John's United Methodist Church and held many positions. Don was a member of the Northern board and founding member of the Mason Dixon board of officials. He officiated for basketball and football at the high school level. He was also a frequent fixture at Baxter ball park umpiring fast pitch softball. He was very interested in local sports, and religiously followed Fairmont State University and North Marion High School. He loved the New York Yankees.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Donna Lea Luketic (Walls), his two sons, Doug Luketic of Barrackville (Carla) and Donnie Luketic of Fairview (Lori), his four grandchildren who he adored most in this world, Alyssa White (Derek), Becky Luketic, Antonio Luketic, and Emilio Luketic. He is also survived by his brother Joe Luketic (Donna), sister Phyllis Pawich (Bob), sister-in-law Beulah Luketic, his two best friends Cliff Tennant and Dick Laxton, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Ted Luketic, his sister Julie Ann DeVault and her husband Bill. He is also preceded in death by his in-laws, Raymond and Emma Walls.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home – Curry Chapel, 1000 Grant Street in Fairview, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Stephanie Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com.
