Doris Sue (Campbell) Saffer of Fairmont, an 88-year-old lung cancer survivor, passed on the morning of October 28, 2025, after succumbing to other illnesses. She joined many predeceased family members and her Heavenly Father.
She was a secretary for the US Army, in Northern Virginia and in Frankfurt Germany. She transitioned to driving a school bus in Prince William County Virginia, while raising her four children. She loved and missed her church family at Eldora United Methodist Church in Fairmont, after moving to Virginia to stay with her daughter in her elder years.
She was predeceased by her parents Clayton Campbell and Stanley Dale Campbell, her husband William L. Saffer, her sons Scott G. Saffer and Thomas C. Saffer, as well as her six siblings; Clayton, Howard and James Campbell, Judith Huffman, Nancy Currey and Betty Deems; and her grandson in-law Allen T. Fisher.
She is survived by her children William D. Saffer (Hayley), Janet S. Cook (Gerald), her grandchildren; Katrina Fisher, Jason Cook (Leilany), Karley Bastien (Keela), Austin Saffer and five great grandchildren; Ella Cook, Caleb Fisher, Owen Cook, Clark Bastien and Charlotte Bastien.
She will be thought of often and missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The service will be at the funeral home on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. with Dr. Rev. Michael Richards officiating. Interment will follow at West Virginia National Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com.
