Obituary

Dwayne Ken Anderson, affectionately known as Wayne, was born on March 6, 1964 to his parents, Albert Anderson Sr. and Julia Anderson Turner in Washington, D.C. He grew up in Fairmont, WV in Jackson Addition before moving to Robinson St.

He was the fourth children of his siblings. Wayne was the first of his siblings to accept Christ as his Savior at thirteen years old. At the age of fourteen, he answered his call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ at Temple of Christ Apostolic Church in Fairmont. He was under the leadership of Evangelist Louise Britton and Elder Henry Burns.

Dwayne attended Barns and Dunbar Elementary Schools in Fairmont. He participated in Pop Warner Football. He played center position for the Hills Bulldogs. He was injured in an automobile accident in route to a game where he was left unable to participate in any sports.

Wayne had a love for animals. As a child, he would visit a neighbor, Mr. Fred, on Garrett Ave. He would help feed his ducks and chickens. Mr. Fred gave him a duck and chicken. They would both walk behind him up and down the streets in Jackson Addition.

Upon leaving Mr. Fred's on his way home he would make sure to take the shortcut through "the path" so he could steal strawberries from Mt. Smitty's strawberry patch.

Dwayne attended East Fairmont High School in Fairmont, WV. He relocated to Akron, OH with his brother, Keith. He graduated in 1982 from Central Hower High School in Akron. He left OH to further his education. He was accepted into Morristown, TN. In 1985, he received an Associate Degree in Business Administration.

After college, he met and married his former wife and friend, Delores Mynatt. They had four beautiful children, R. Matthew Sowell, Elijah, Julia, and Aleaha Anderson. He loved and cherished each one in his own special way.

He resided in Fayetteville, GA for a brief period before relocating back to WV. He used his business acumen to become Founder and CEO of Great Love Ministries in Fairmont, WV. He owned and operated Greater Love Ministries Consignment Shop in Osage, WV.

Wayne had a heart of gold. He opened his home to many people in need of shelter. He would host neighborhood food giveaways. He had a passion for cooking and backyard BBQ's. Pepperoni rolls was his specialty. Wayne and his beloved dog, King, was the epitome of "a dog is a man's best friend."
