Obituary

Edwin Mark Winet, 86, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025. He was born in Inglewood, CA on February 1, 1939, a son of the late Sol Winetsky and Mary Kathleen Thomas.

Edwin grew up in the Atwater district of Los Angeles and attended Marshall High School. He had a passion for anything technical and started reading the dictionary and encyclopedias before he started kindergarten. He had many mentors in his family and neighborhood, and as he grew, his interests included automobiles, motorcycles, radios, and electronics. Edwin was also interested in music, both instruments and singing and taught himself to play the diatonic accordion and harmonica. He never learned how to read music and instead learned by listening.

Edwin and his first wife, Carol Cummings had two children, Kathleen Martha and Mark Alan. He then married Harriet Mae Boring and they were happily married until her death in 1984. He married Joy Diane Dillbeck Goslin in 1994 with the statement "I saved the best for last."

Edwin is survived by his wife Joy Winet; daughter, Kathleen Winet (Chuck Mestas) and son Mark Winet; step-children, Krista (Jason) Herr, Andrew (Rosa) Goslin, Ted (Annabel) Goslin; and 10 grandchildren. Longtime friends at the AACA; neighbors, Mike and Katherine Miller, Jim and Tara Stevens, and Aaron and Kelly Underwood.

The family would like to give special thanks to Sharon Sage, who cared for Edwin during his last months at home.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at the Smithtown Community Center on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com.
