Ellen B. Ryan, 85, of Monongah, WV, passed away peacefully September 23, 2026. She was born on September 11, 1941, in Monongah, WV, the oldest of seven children born to Vernon and Nina Richards.

Ellen was married to Robert Ryan for 37 years. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Richards and his wife, Rhonda, of Monongah; her beloved grandson, Zackary Richards of Oklahoma City, OK; her sister, Sharon Vincent and her husband, Mark, of Monongah, WV; sisters-in-law, Ruby Richards of Monongah and Marie Starcher of Fairmont, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; three brothers, Jimmy Richards, Wilford “Marty” Richards, and Vernon Richards; and two sisters, Julia Richards and Karen Meffe.

Ellen spent several years residing at Harmony at White Oaks in Bridgeport and her final years at St. Barbara’s Nursing Home in Monongah.

Ellen was a loving and caring Grammy who cherished the time she spent with her grandson, Zackary, especially during his grammar school breaks. Together, they shared many wonderful adventures and memories. Ellen was especially close to her two sisters, Karen and Sharon. It was not unusual if you saw one to see all three. She also enjoyed long walks and lunches with her best friend and sister-in-law, Marie. She had a special love for cats and fostered many throughout the years.

Ellen will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. She will be remembered for her generous heart, caring nature, and the love she shared with those around her.
