Erica Antonette King, 41 of Morgantown, WV was carried up on the wings of angels on Sunday, July 26, 2020 surrounded by her loving family at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Erica was born in Fairmont, WV on July 13, 1979, the daughter of Eddie King Jr. and Bonnie J. King.
Erica was a fun-loving daughter, amazing aunt, kind cousin, and everybody's best friend. She was employed as a phlebotomist and trainer at Lab Corp, Inc. for 18 years and was a faithful employee. She was always ready to lend a hand, a listening ear, and put her best foot forward to help anyone. She was a sweet, vibrant, person with an infectious laugh, and never met a stranger. Once you met her, you would never forget her, for to know her was to love her.
Erica was a 1997 graduate of North Marion High School, attended Monongah Middle School, and Monongah Elementary School. While at Monongah Middle, Erica received an award for attending school for 607 days with Perfect attendance. Erica also attended OIC and received her phlebotomy certification.
Her Father was always supporting, nurturing, and guiding her and became a role model for her work ethic. She in turn was a role model for many of her co-workers because of her pleasant attitude, drive, and her contagious smile. Erica attended the Morning Star Baptist Church with her parents and was baptized at an early age. Family and Friendships meant everything to her. Blood makes us family and so does love.
Erica leaves to mourn her passing, her parents, one brother Eddie E. King III (Marisa) of VA Beach, VA, grandmother Ruth King, NC. aunts Gladys Beans, Josephine Hudson, Atoi McFadden (Garry Sr,), Renee (Rodney) Rhoda, Minister Marlene Mitchell, Damita Tartt, Lucy Brown, Valarie (Kris) Stricklin, Regina and Natalie Hinton, Sharon Hooper, and Donna Tartt; uncle Nathan Hinton (Adam). Special Sister Ali (Ryan) Culhane and nephew Rhett Culhane, April (Chris) Pierson. Niece My'kell Henry, nephews, Zion King, Avaree Lipscomb, Grant and Jack Strother, Special cousins, George Curry III (Patti) Shawntra Thornton, Garry L McFadden Jr., Bria and Selwynn Rhoda, Felicia, Kristen and Olivia Hooper, Tee and Loring Hudson, Arnold Edwards, Preston Tartt, Zachary Fuqua, Aaron Brooker, LaTrisha Payne ,Carolyn (Brian) Reynolds, Carla (Brian) Penny, Loni Mitchell (Wallace), Diane (Lee) Clay, Kristy (Jimmy) Beulah, Robin Beans, Amber Royster, Kris (Irais) Stricklin, Sheldon, and Chelsea Stricklin, Anetris Austin and a host of special friends to numerous to name.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020 at the Morning Star Baptist Church, 100 McKinney St, Fairmont, WV from 2pm-8pm. A Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday August 1, 2020 with visitation from 11am-12pm.and services will start at 12:00pm at the church. Burial will be at the Grandview Memorial Park & Mausoleum and a Repass at the Monongah Town Hall. While the family appreciates the absolute outpouring of sympathy and support for their loss, they also understand and that there are those who are not comfortable attending public services at this time and we know that they will celebrate Erica's rich life in their own personal way. For those who plan to attend, please wear face coverings and practice safe social distancing measures during the visitation and funeral.
