Obituary

Ethel Aldene Efaw "Nan" of Fairview, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at St. Barbara's Nursing Home. She was born July 29, 1927 in Daybrook. She is the daughter of the late Dessie and Sidney Thompson. Nan was married to the love of her life, Thomas W. Efaw, for 39 years, until his passing in 1985.

Nan was an active member of the Washington Street Church of Christ. Aldene had a deep and abiding love of the Lord.

She enjoyed cooking Sunday family dinners, sitting on her porch waving and talking to her Orchard Hill neighbors and loved spending the holidays with her family, especially the 4th of July and Christmas. Nan was the matriarch of our family and the glue that held us all together. She loved her family with a fierceness. No one could leave Nanny's house without hugs and kisses.

She is survived by her children, William Bill Efaw (Suzanne), Susie Selan (Joseph), Ruthie Efaw and daughter-in-law, Marti Efaw. Nanny was blessed with 8 grandchildren, Christopher Efaw, Natalie Selan, Christy Mundell, Amanda Longwell, Ryan Efaw, Ashley Angelilli, Eric Moyers, Bethany Wycoff, and Cristy Mundell; 19 great grandchildren, Makena and Jake Cochran, Shaylie Haught, Camden, Trey, and Sydney Longwell, R.J., Cody, and Gracie Jones, Allyson Postlethwait, Tristen and Seth Moyers, Cully and Anna Wycoff, Halen Coutrure, Kensington and Stella Wood, Lillian and Hunter Roseman, and one great great grandchild, Stephen Jones.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas W. Efaw, Jr.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Barbara's Nursing Home for the compassionate and dedicated care they provided our Nan. Their kindness and support made a meaningful difference in her final days.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home – Curry Chapel, 100 Grant Street in Fairview, on Sunday, August 4, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, August 5, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The funeral will be on Monday at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. with Evangelist Peter Ray Cole officiating.
