Franklin Joseph Alvaro (80) passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 peacefully, surrounded by family in the home where he was also born on February 20, 1940 in Fairmont (Watson). He was the husband of Lauranne Greco Alvaro. They shared 55 years together.

Frank was the son of the late Frank and Rose Nash Alvaro. He is survived by wife, Lauranne; sons, Franklin Joseph II and wife Gloria Scotchel Alvaro, Vincent Michael and wife Jennifer Jiles Alvaro and daughter Mia Alvaro Bonasso and husband Michael; grandchildren, Michael "Mikey" Bonasso, Marissa Bonasso Robinson and husband Beau, and Joseph "Joey" Alvaro, son of Vincent and Jennifer. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Dr. Virgil Greco and brother-in-law, James Greco, in addition to his sisters-in-law, Marilyn and Betty Alvaro.

He was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Larry, Mickey, and Tony Alvaro (Rose) and his 4 sisters, Evelyn Bowers (Jess), Teresa Bruno (Joe), Mary Gerba (Ray) and Nellie Giorcelli (Gene) and mother-in-law, Peggy Gerco, as well as several nephews and nieces, but he leaves behind many that were very special to him.

Frank served in the US Army as an SP4 (E-4) from 1958-1960, completing his service in Alaska.

He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus in Fairmont and was Catholic by Faith. Frank was the owner/operator of "Alvaro Floor & Wall Covering" and for many years his sons worked alongside him.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, time at The Camp, hunting, fishing, golfing, bocci, and playing with his grand puppies. He will always be remembered for his love of life and people, his endless storytelling that never grew old and his ability to make any stranger a friend!

The family would like to thank our very dear friend, "Angel" to our father; Dr. Dave Tingler for his endless love, support, and friendship. Also, to the amazing team at Fresenius for taking such good care of him at dialysis. He held you all in a special place in his heart. To the hospice nurses who so lovingly aided in our care for him as he headed home to be with The Lord, we thank you. To the Domico family, we extend our deepest appreciation for all that you have done for us through these challenging times. And to all of our friends who called, texted, messaged, sent food, and most importantly, prayed, we are forever grateful!
