Franklin Dale Devores passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the age of 90. He was born November 26, 1933 to Tressie and Louis McKinley Devores in Clarksburg, West Virginia. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Josephine Coffman Devores, married June 16, 1955.
He is survived by his four children, Charlotte and husband Greg of Princeton, West Virginia, Randall and wife Jodi of Belington, West Virginia, Connie Devores of Belington, West Virginia, and Ronald and wife Donna, of Monongah, West Virginia. Frank has 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Frank graduated from Monongah High School Class of 1951. He enlisted in the United States Navy on January 4, 1952. As part of his service, he served as Radioman, a specialist in communications technology. Frank ended his service on December 5, 1956 with the rank of RM3.
After Frank's time in the service, he became a welder and machinist, and worked at Galis, FMC, and Eimco. Frank also served as the instructor of Machine Tool Technology at Fairmont State University.
Frank had many hobbies throughout his lifetime. He loved to sing and enjoyed performing for any crowd. Frank spent his free time communicating with friends all around the world on his ham radio. He was passionate about car racing. Alongside his family and friends, he liked to work on cars and race them around the track. Frank enjoyed road trips all across the US in his RV. After retirement, Frank and his wife traveled around Florida, picking music with a host of great friends all winter long. Frank loved to read, enjoyed Western movies, and rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy.
The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with the service to follow with Pastor Orville Wright officiating. Interment will be at West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton, WV. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com.
