Obituary

Fred Pica, 92, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2020 at his home.

He is survived by his wife Nina Jean Golden Osburn Pica; step son, Gary Osburn and his wife Sharlene of Fairmont; step daughter, Susan Osburn Gumm of Fairmont; brother and sister-in-law, David and Janet Elder of Barrackville; and their children, Tracy Copley of Winchester, VA and Danica Raddish of Charles Town, WV; brother-in-law, Robert Golden of Attleboro, MA; and brother and sister-in-law, John and Linda Shroyer of Whitehall. Also surviving are many step nieces and nephews, step grandchildren, and step great-geandchildren.

Fred is the son of Ambrose Pica and Beatrice Mask Pica, born in Vico Nel Lazo, Rome, Italy.

In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann Elder Pica; his brothers, Tony A. Pica and John J. Pica; four sisters, Victoria Pica Grazianni, Julia Pica Alio Bogda, Josephina Pica Sands, and Rosemary Pica Burdette.

Also preceding him in death are his father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Mildred Elder, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dewey and Esta Sigley Golden; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Violet Osborne, Ray and Arlene Rutherford, Russell and Evelyn Golden, Brenda Golden; and a step son Ronald Osburn.

Fred served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1949 and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the VFW 629 and the American Legion Post 17. Fred retired from the Board of Education after 49 years of service. He is a member of the Church of Christ in Pleasant Valley.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, viewing will be held to honor Fred on Friday, April 17, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jerome Lewis officiating. Fred will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, 335 Maple Avenue in Fairmont following the memorial service.
