Gary Lynn Bashaw, Sr., 79, of Barrackville, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026. Gary was born in Fairmont on March 21, 1947, a son of the late James C. Bashaw and the late Helen Bashaw.

Gary was a member of the U.S. Army and a Freemason of the Masonic Lodge #9 in Fairmont, WV. His employment consisted of working for Owens Illinois in Fairmont, being employed by several coalmines, and retiring from Robinson Run Coal Mine. In his free time, Gary loved to ride his motorcycle, fish, and golf. He was a hardworking man his entire life and had the best humor. His grandson, River Bashaw, was the greatest blessing to his life, he said he lived his life for him, they were best buds.  He never met a stranger and wherever you went he knew someone.

Gary is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Martin Bashaw, of Barrackville;  children: Amy (Matt) Corder and her son River Bashaw of Fairmont, and Gary (Erin) Bashaw, Jr. of Fairmont; siblings: James (Judy) Bashaw of Kearneysville, Judy Butcher of Ravenswood, and Cindy (Tony) Pillo of Venice, Florida. As well as many loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, James and Helen Bashaw of Carolina, Gary was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jerry Butcher, of Ravenswood.
