Gloria Jean “Jeni” Phillips, 74, passed away on June 30, 2026 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Jeni was born in Fairmont on December 28, 1951 to the late Charles and Hazel West. She was a proud graduate of Fairmont Senior High School’s Class of 1969 followed by business school.

On July 17, 1976, Jeni married the love of her life, Clarence “Chip” Phillips. Together they share nearly 50 years of marriage filled with love, laughter and support for each other.

Jeni is also survived by her daughter, Ashley Schmidt and her husband Ryan; her sister-in-law Kathy Ross; nephew John West and his wife Amanda; niece Chelsea Mills and her husband Matt; niece Jody Sammons and her husband Michael; niece Rebecca Turner and her husband Gerald; nephew Michael Ross and his wife Jennifer; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Along with her parents, she was proceeded in death by her brother Gary West and her son, Jeffery who passed at birth.

Anyone who knew Jeni knew how deeply she loved her dogs and grand-dogs; she found great happiness and comfort in their companionship. Cooking was never her strong suit, but she loved being around her family and friends sharing a meal and laughs.

In accordance with Jeni’s wishes, there will be no visitation or memorial service. Her family asks that she be remembered in the moments of laughter shared with loved ones, the comfort of a faithful dog, and the enduring love of family.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff at Ruby Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care they provided during her final days.
