Obituary

Helen Mikol, née Ostas, age 93, of Fairmont, WV and recently of Greenville SC, died on Sunday, September 26, 2021.  She was ready to return to her Heavenly Father and passed away peacefully.

Born in Bedford, Ohio to the late Chester and Michalina "Mamie" Ostas (née Beltowska), Helen was raised in Bedford and Cleveland, Ohio.  On May 29, 1948, Helen married the late Robert "Bob" Mikol and the two began their family with homes in the Ohio and Tennessee communities of Cleveland, Canton, Granville, Woodsfield and Chattanooga prior to settling in Fairmont in 1963 where they continued to raise their family.  Helen was a member of Saint Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church for 55 years.

The mother of five children, Helen was a devoted mother who dedicated her life to her family.  As the family grew, Helen worked in the Fairmont community for many years holding administrative positions with the Department of Parks and Recreation, Interstate Engineers, and Fairmont State University. She was also an enthusiastic Avon Lady for many years enjoying her love of fashion and cosmetics.  After retirement, Helen cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and the quality time spent during special occasions with family and friends.

A caring woman with a generous spirit, Helen will be remembered for her love of church, family, and friends. She enjoyed social activities, was an avid bridge player, and loved to dance and sing.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, brothers, Chester Ostas, Theodore Ostas, and James Ostas, a sister Jeanette Ostas, and a granddaughter Bailee Barrows.

Surviving are her children, Robert Mikol, Jr. (Lillian), David Mikol (Sue), Jeffrey Mikol (Beverly), James Mikol, and Pamela Barrows; cherished grandchildren, Christy, Joseph, Andrea, Sarah, Justin, Joshua, Amanda, and Maxwell, and her great-grandchildren, Maura, Aaron, Eva, Alexandra, Ozzie, Abigail, Declan, Finley, Reagan, Logan, Robert James "RJ", and Madeleine as well as her nieces, nephews, and extended family.
