Jamele Antoinette
Dirden Finney
Jun 4, 1949 — Dec 25, 2019
Jamele Antoinette Dirden Finney, 70 transitioned this earthly life on December 25, 2019. Born in Fairmont, WV, she was the fifth child of Alphonso and Annie Rebecca Stubbs Dirden of Fairmont, WV. Jamele was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was a caring, loving, fun-time oriented woman. She's touched many, and now we lay her to rest.
Jamele graduated from Fairmont Senior High School in 1967 and was hired at Westinghouse Lighting where she worked for many years. She also graduated from the West Virginia Business College and received a degree in Secretarial Administration. Jamele possessed a smile that would illuminate the environment. Throughout her life she maintained a demeanor that won the hearts of many. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten. Jamele also possessed the gift of song. She really enjoyed singing having performed with the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Terrestrial Choir as well as the Morning Star Baptist Church Choir. Jamele was also a soloist with the FYE Choir for many years.
Jamele loved to sing, write, read, pray, bowl, play cards and phone chat with friends and family. Though her health was failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Jamele's indomitable spirit kept her pushing through the pain. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie James Finney, her parents Alphonso and Annie Rebecca Stubbs Dirden, sisters Julia Frances Dirden Boone, Carolyn Yvonne Blackman Horton and beloved brother, William Lewis Dirden. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Elise Blackman Smith (Gurtis), brother-in-law Frank Horton, daughters Charity Antoinette Finney Jones, Celia Andreanna Finney, and grandchildren Hydia Ashune' RaiAnn Finney-George, DiAveion Antoinette T'Kai Jones, and Eshawm Josiah Alphonso Jones. Jamele is fondly loved and remembered by a multitude of nieces, nephews, extended family and many good friends. She stood tall behind her family and will truly be missed and remembered through and through.
