James Thomas
"Jimmy" Talbott
Dec 1, 1951 — Aug 28, 2024
James Thomas "Jimmy" Talbott, 72, a lifelong resident of Monongah, West Virginia, was born on December 1, 1951, and passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, at Fairmont General Hospital in Fairmont, WV.
Jimmy was the beloved only child of the late Jim and Helen McKain Talbott, also of Monongah. Known for his warm heart and friendly nature, Jimmy never met a stranger and was always eager to lend a helping hand. He often ended his conversations with a genuine, "Let me know if you need any help."
Jimmy was a familiar face at the local Dairy Kone and Papa Joe's in Monongah, where he was known and loved by many. As a graduate of Monongah High School and having lived in the family home for all of his 72 years, his deep roots in Monongah were evident. Jimmy cherished his hometown and never wanted to leave the place that held so many memories for him.
Jimmy dedicated his early work career to the Athletic Department at Fairmont State College. Additionally, he enjoyed working as a roadie for the Caravan and Hot Ice bands. Both experiences allowed him to be part of something he loved while remaining close to home.
After the loss of his parents, Jimmy faced challenging times, but he was never alone. Jimmy's cousin, Susan Kearns, played a special role in his life, particularly in his later years. Her care was a comfort to him, making his life easier and more joyful.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Patrick DeFazio and Greg Vandetta, who stood by his side, as well as all the friends who supported Jimmy throughout his life.
Arrangements are being handled by the Domico Funeral Home in Fairmont.
Jimmy's wish was to be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. He will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
