Obituary

Janet A. Elder, 79, of Barrackville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born on December 8, 1944, in Fairmont, West Virginia to the late Omar and Lillian (Simmons) McGee.

She is survived by her daughters, Tracy Copley and Danica (Brian) Raddish; sister, Joan (Gary) Michael; sister-in-laws, Betty (Jim) Tennant, Sarah (Dorsey) Cheuvraunt, and brother- in-law, Michael Graziani; grandchildren Matthew Copley, Chandler (Breanna) Raddish, Alexis Copley, and Carson Raddish; great- grandchildren, Riggs and Wade Raddish; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and her sweet cat, Jax.

In addition to her parents, Omar and Lillian McGee, Janet is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, David S. Elder, Jr., sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Jack Mullins; brother-in-law Paul (Nellie) Elder, sisters-in-law MaryAnn (Fred) Pica, Sharon (Michael) Graziani, Patty (Burt) Bundy, Peg (Victor) Cianfrocca, and Sue Ellen Elder.

Janet's high school sweetheart and husband of 61 years recently passed away within the last ten months. He was the "love of her life" and her primary care provider in later years until his death. They were inseparable and always complimented each other's lives.

Nicknamed Bunnie, Janet was a Christian by faith. She was always a giving, caring, and selfless soul. It is most evident in the care and devotion she had for her husband, two daughters, and her entire extended family.

She was always an avid reader and particularly loved mystery novels. In her younger days, she enjoyed bowling and even played in a league. Janet loved watching Jeopardy and was a diehard Green Bay Packers fan. Janet retired from AFC Glass as Manpower Coordinator.

Janet recently celebrated her 79th birthday with her family. Even at the end, she found a way to smile and laugh. Everyone she left behind is sad that she has departed but knows that she is at peace with her loving husband, as she wanted. We will always love and miss her until we meet again.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. The memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Matthew Holbert officiating.
