John W. Harris, a loving father, grandfather, and husband passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Ruby Memorial Hospital with his loved ones by his side at the age of 75.

John is survived by his loving wife, Linda Ayers of Fairmont, brother, Jerry Harris of Fairmont, and beloved children: Shannon Harris of Willoughby, Ohio, Jessica Snelson and husband, Bob of Fairmont, and Jonathan Harris and wife, Amanda of Fairmont; step-children Tammy Deane of Southern Shores, NC, Ron Miller of Scott Depot, WV, Tina Hurban and husband, Michael of Sanderson, FL, and Jason Miller and wife, Susie of Fairmont, WV.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Isabella, Audrey, and Corbin; and many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Juanita Harris of Fairmont, brothers, Robert and Elmer Harris of Mentor, Ohio, and sister Mary Harris of Fairmont.

John was born April 29, 1949 in Fairmont, WV.  He was a graduate of West Fairmont High School, and a highly-decorated combat Army veteran with the 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagles" in Vietnam. He was also a member of the National Color Guard.

John was enjoying retirement after spending his career in multiple industries.  He loved spending time with family; especially his wife, children, and grandchildren, who knew him as Pappy and Papa John.  John loved to play golf, read, and watch Alabama football.
