Jon M. Martin, Sr., born August 12, 1944, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Jon is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Sharon Miller Martin; his children, Jon Martin, Jr., Shawna Martin, and Rusty Martin and his wife Laura; and his grandson, Jon Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Max Martin; his sisters, Phyllis and Evelyn; his nephew, Benny Barth; and his beloved dogs, Lucy and CiCi.
Jon was a proud graduate of West Fairmont High School, Class of 1963. Following graduation, he served his country honorably in the United States Army, including a stint in Korea and Okinawa. After completing his military service, Jon began a long a dedicated career with United Parcel Service, where he started as a mechanic and retired as Fleet Manager.
After retirement, Jon and Sharon permanently moved back to Charleston, West Virginia, to be near their children. During this time, Jon became a devoted member of Cross Lanes United Methodist Church, where his faith and fellowship were an important part of his life.
Throughout his life, Jon found joy in golfing, bowling, antiquing, playing cards, hunting, and fishing. He was known for his love of sweets and his McDonald's coffee – always enjoyed very hot.
Jon will be remembered for his strong work ethic, love of family, and the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The service will be at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Preston officiating. Interment will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Enterprise. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com .
