Joseph C. Malnick, Sr., 84, of Barrackville, WV, died Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Mon General Select Specialty Hospital in Morgantown, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Rivesville, WV, the son of the late Joseph A. and Evelyn Sims Malnick.
Joe was a member of the class of 1960 of Barrackville High School, where he excelled in football and basketball. He was employed by Owens Illinois Glass Plant until it closed. He then worked for Consolidation Coal Company until he retired.
Joe was a Veteran of the US Army. Joe loved the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping at his camp in Mt. Storm, WV, his home away from home. He followed his family in their sporting events. He coached Pop Warner football and 5th and 6th grade basketball. His favorite pastime was watching football games on TV.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Straight Malnick; three sons, Joseph "Chris" Malnick, Jr. and wife Kathy of Corbin Branch, Scott Malnick of Barrackville, and Steve Malnick and wife Jennifer of Fairview, WV; five grandchildren, Drew Malnick and wife Marissa and great grandson, Joey of Fairview, Trevor Malnick and fiancée Lindsay of Carmal, IN, Ashton Strand and husband Josh, Bailey Malnick (Connor), and Cole Malnick and fiancée Emma Freels; a sister, Jeanie Bane of Barrackville; and sisters-in-law, Claudette Young and Beth Ann Straight. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and his Mt. Storm and K & A Kampground family.
Joe was Baptist by faith and a member of St. Paul's Baptist Church of Fairview, WV.
Friends and family may visit Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Larry Harker officiating. Interment will follow at Barrackville Baptist Cemetery in Barrackville, WV. Online condolences may be made to the funeral home at www.domicofh.com.
