Katherine Mary Grace Marra Marano, born on January 2 nd , 1925, long-time resident of Fairmont, and daughter of Louis and Sarah Marra (Yaquinto), passed on to be with the Lord on December 11 th at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Wheeling, WV, dying of natural causes at the age of 95.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony in 1986; their infant daughter, Shella Kay; her sisters, Louise Pauley and Katy Straight; many brothers and sisters-in-law; her dear friends, Ginny Higgs and Betsy Haislip; and a granddaughter, Amy Bartolet.
She is survived by her children, Timothy (Jane) Marano of Salem, OH and Sharon (Wothy) Paul of Wheeling, WV; grandchildren, Greg (Jen) Marano, Shawn (Jodi) Paul, Gavin (Rachel) Paolucci-Kleinow, and Jessamine (Jan) Paul; six great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchildren.
Katherine graduated from Fairmont Senior High School. She worked as a clerk at Wallplaster in Fairmont, stayed home to raise her children, and then was a housekeeper/nanny for some Fairmont families. She was a fiercely living mother and grandmother. Her Warren Road home in Fairmont was frequently visited by family and friends. It was her ministry to send card and in her later years, to be a mighty prayer with her dear friend, Patty Barnes.
Thank you to the helpers she had in Fairmont: Kathy Higgs, Joyce Pasquale, and Bryan and Betty Cole, that made it possible for her to live in the city she grew up in for so many years. Thank you to the staff at Good Shepherd Nursing Home for their kind and loving care.
She donated her body to the Human Gift Registry at WVU and her remains will be buried next to her husband in Fairmont in the future. There will be no service as she requested. In this time of COVID, the family hopes to play a time to gather together to celebrate her life in the future. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com.
