Lessie Lee Williams, 84, of Fairmont, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Mon Health Medical Center. She was born in Fairmont, WV on October 15, 1934, daughter of the late David Claybrook and Mary Sanders Claybrook.
Lessie retired from Westinghouse/Phillips Lighting of Fairmont on April 28, 1995 after working there for 22 years. She loved her church, the Temple of Christ, where she was a member for over 35 years. As a member, she served as the head of the usher board, head of the woman's ministry, head of the kitchen committee, and as a trustee.
She was affectionally known for her cooking, especially her pound cakes and brownies.
Lessie is survived by her children, Mark Turner (Tamara) of Fairmont, Diane Robinson (William Matt) of Fairmont, Tina Williams of Charlotte, NC, and Angela Williams of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Danita Maddox (Rick), Dorothy Robinson, Mark Turner, Jr. (Melissa), Whitney Robinson, and Brianna Mizell; great grandchildren, Jasmine Johnson, Kendyll Villers, Gabrielle Turner, Briella Robinson, and Arielle Turner; and several nieces, nephews, cousins; and a special friend, Alfreda Britton.
In addition to her parents, Lessie was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Williams; her siblings, Chris Christian, Gertrude Garner, Tommie L. Parker, Willie G. Claybrook, Thomas Jefferson Sanders.
The family will receive friends at the Morning Star Baptist Church, 100 McKinney Street in Fairmont, on Sunday, October 13, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, October 14, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until Noon. The funeral will be held at Morning Star Baptist Church on Monday at Noon with Rev. Wesley Dobbs and Pastor Phyllis Agnew. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
