Obituary

Lillie Trussell was born November 3, 1933 in Grant Town, West Virginia to Sterling and Beatrice Hicks and was the second oldest of four children. She was introduced to Jesus Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church in Grant Town, WV. She later converted to Catholicism after she moved to Chicago where she became a member of St. Columbanus Church. She graduated from Dunbar High School in Fairmont, WV in 1951. After graduating, she moved to Chicago, IL where she lived with her uncle, Bryant Sanders. She later met and married her late husband, Lamar Trussell, Sr. The loving couple instantly fell in love and soon married October 14, 1952, and to this union, they birthed three children (Rosemary, Lamar, Jr., and Marva). Lillie and Lamar purchased their forever home in 1962 in the city of Chicago and remained married until Lamar went home to be with Jesus in July 1999.

Lillie is survived by her children, Rosemary Hulett of Hazel Crest, IL, Lamar Trussell, Jr. of Chicago, IL, and Dr. Marva Brewington (Stan) of Matteson, IL; her grandchildren, Mario Hulett, Marlon Hulett, Lamar Trussell, III, Brandon Trussell, Sierra Fletcher (Michael II), and Lauren Brewington; Brandon Cohee; her great grandchildren, Lanesha Trussell, Jabari Trussell, and Michael Fletcher, III (AKA Tre); her aunt, Ophelia Sullivan; her sister-in-law, Corrine Hicks; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her devoted and faithful husband of 47 years, Lamar Trussell, Sr.; her loving parents, Sterling and Beatrice Hicks of Fairmont, WV; her dear siblings, Sterling Hicks, Jr. of Chicago, IL, Marva Scruggs of Richmond, VA, and Harold Hicks, Sr. of California.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Monday, November 25, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A committal service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairmont with Rev.
