A Life Well Loved: In Memory of Malcolm Alphonso Nowlin Jr.

July 16, 1973 – December 29, 2024

With hearts full of love and bittersweet sorrow, we celebrate the life of Malcolm Alphonso Nowlin Jr., who went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 29, 2024. Born on July 16, 1973, in Fairmont, WV, Malcolm was the cherished son of the late Malcolm A. Nowlin Sr. and Minister Gloria L. Nowlin. His journey was one of unwavering faith, deep compassion, and a love so radiant that it touched everyone who had the privilege to know him.

Malcolm now joins in eternal rest his beloved grandmother, Overseer Bertha Lydia Koger, his brothers Kenny and Alvin Fitzpatrick, and his sister Stephanie Nowlin. Though their reunion is joyous in Heaven, his absence leaves an unfillable space in the hearts of those he leaves behind. He is survived by his devoted brother, Perry Kent of Irving, TX; his treasured nieces, Mia Nowlin of Atlanta, GA, Shannon Nowlin of Milwaukee, and Kendra Fitzpatrick of Lawrenceville, GA, along with her daughter, Kayonna Valentine of Morgantown, WV; and his beloved nephew, Shawn Bryant of Clarksburg, WV. Malcolm also leaves behind a host of cousins, cherished friends, and a spiritual family who will forever hold his memory dear.

A proud graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, Malcolm poured his energy and dedication into his work at Patton Cleaners in Morgantown, WV. Yet, his true calling was found in his unwavering devotion to God and his family. As a faithful member of Agape Life Church in Fairmont, under the loving guidance of Reverend Lonnie L. Riley and Regina Rose Riley, Malcolm's faith blossomed into a beacon of hope and encouragement for all who knew him.

Malcolm's love for his mother, the late Minister Gloria Nowlin, was the cornerstone of his life. To say he adored her is an understatement—his love for her was pure, unshakeable, and a testament to the depth of his heart. He proudly embraced the title of "Mama's boy," knowing that such love was his greatest strength, not a weakness.

To meet Malcolm was to experience warmth and kindness in its truest form. His personality glowed with an inner light that drew people in and left them better for having known him. Malcolm wore his heart on his sleeve and had an extraordinary way of making everyone feel like family. His hugs were healing, his laughter infectious, and his words always filled with love. He didn't just speak about faith—he lived it, extending grace and compassion to everyone he encountered.

Malcolm's love for God was the anchor of his soul, and he never shied away from sharing that love with others. His family recalls how he would passionately talk about his relationship with Christ and gently encourage others to deepen their own faith. For Malcolm, faith wasn't just a belief; it was a way of life—a light that guided his every step and illuminated the lives of those around him.

He had a heart that loved without boundaries and arms that embraced without hesitation. Whether it was a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or simply being present, Malcolm made sure those he cared about knew they were loved. His family fondly describes him as someone who "loved hard," and that love will continue to ripple through their lives for generations to come.

Though we grieve his passing, we also celebrate the joy, laughter, and love that Malcolm brought into the world. His life was a song of faith, family, and friendship—a melody that will continue to play in the hearts of all who knew him.

The family invites all who were touched by Malcolm's life to join in honoring his memory. Visitation will be held at Agape Life Church, 410 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont, WV, on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A celebration of Malcolm's beautiful life will follow on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM, also at Agape Life Church.

Interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery, where Malcolm will be laid to rest, surrounded by the love he so freely gave and the Savior he so faithfully served.

Dearest Malcolm, your life was a testament to love, and your memory is a blessing. Though your voice is now silent, your song of faith and kindness will echo forever in our hearts. Until we meet again, rest in God's perfect peace.
