Marguerite graduated from Fairview High School at the age of 16 and married Virgil Wilson of Robinson Run in 1930. The couple lived on Robinson Run while she cared for his ailing aunt and uncle. With the exception of ten years spent in Oklahoma during the depression while Virgil worked in the oil fields, Marguerite lived her life on the beloved farm at Ann's Run.

An accomplished baker known for her salt-rising bread, date rolls, mince pies and other specialties, she was also a skilled knitter and quilter. Marguerite was employed at Hartley's Department Store in Fairmont for many years teaching knitting and crocheting. After retirement, she delighted in generously distributing homemade scarves, mittens, slippers and "scrubbers" to friends and family.

Marguerite attended St. Paul Baptist Church and was active as treasurer of the American Baptist Women's Ministry. Because of her kind ways and ability to make those in need feel comfortable, she was often counted upon to care for others. She impacted the lives of many because her loving cheerfulness, hardworking attitude, and faithful service to others.

Marguerite is survived by three grandchildren, Boyd Hawkins and wife Kari of Huntsville, AL, Tanya and husband Andy Chersin of Spirit Lake, ID, and Becky Hawkins of Costa Mesa, CA; son-in-law Wilbur Hawkins of Madison, AL. She has seven great grandchildren, Anna and Tucker Hawkins, Rachel, Andy, Sarah, Caleb and Jeremiah Chersin. She is also survived by her brother, John D. Tennant, Jr and wife Rose Mary of Fairview, WV, and their children, Chris Tennant, Steve and Sharon Tennant, Catherine and Tony Drown, Tim and Kim Tennant, Jonathan Tennant, David and Joni Tennant, and Natalie Tennant and Erik Wells. Other relatives are niece Mary Woodfork, nephews James Lloyd, Lee Lloyd and John Lloyd. She has fifteen great nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband Virgil, children Virgil Lee and Patty Lou Hawkins, sister Fern Lloyd and brother Beryl Tennant.

Friends will be received at Domico Funeral Home, Curry Chapel, Fairview, WV, Wednesday from noon until 8 pm. She will lie in state at the St. Paul's Baptist Church in Fairview, Thursday from 10 until 11 am. The funeral service will be held at 11 am Thursday in the church with Rev. Larry Harker officiating.
