Marian Frances
Sapp
Feb 28, 1925 — Oct 31, 2019
Marian Frances Sapp, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2019. She was born February 28, 1925, in Fairmont. She was one of eight children born to Amelio Meale and Rosa (Dabruzzia) Meale.
She grew up in an Italian-American family and she was a great support system for her brothers, sisters, and all the extended family and friends.
As a young child, Marian resided at 508 Pennsylvania Avenue, which was next door to Colasessano's, and attended Miller School. She worked at Westinghouse but spent most of her employment years at Maunz Individual Shop for Men at both the Fairmont and Middletown Mall locations.
She cherished all the friendships she was able to make throughout the years at the Maunz Shop.
Marian also worked for several years at the Marion County Senior Center. In addition, she was very active in the organization of the annual Fairmont State Lettermen's Fundraising Dinner and Dance during the Joe Retton and Deacon Duvall eras. She was an avid fan and supporter of Fairmont State Athletics, especially basketball.
She enjoyed cooking, particularly making lasagna and spaghetti sauce, hosting pasta dinners on Sundays, entertaining for all special occasions, as well as preparing her delicious variety of desserts.
Marian, a widow, was married to George "Red" Nattrass and Gerald H. "Bud" Sapp, Sr. In addition to her parents, Marian was preceded in death by her siblings, Filomena (Minnie) Amodeo, Felix (Fitch) Meale, Josephine (Peen) Tristani, and Stella Hawkinberry.
Marian is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. G.H. Budd Sapp and Robin (Dalton); two granddaughters, Brigitte Kettering (Paul), and Brooklyn Phares (Tyler); two great grandchildren, James Sapp Kettering and Margaret River "Maisie" Kettering; and siblings, Joan Smith, Ott Meale, and Eugene Meale. Affectionately known as Aunt Marian, she had many caring nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Fairmont State Athletic Association (Marian F. Sapp Memorial 1000 Dollar Club) and/or Saint Barbara's Memorial Nursing Home. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Barbara's Nursing home for their dedicated care of Marian while she was a resident.
