Martha Jean "Toots" Gross, 85, of Fairmont passed away on January 13, 2022 at Fitzwater's Assisted Living. She was born on December 9, 1936 in Fairmont, WV, daughter of the late Harold and Ann (Skarzenski) Jarrett. Martha was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph "Joe" Gross. She and Joe were married on July 27, 1962 and had been married 52 years before Joe's death in 2014.

Martha was a Catholic by faith and retired from what is now Verizon Communications.

She is survived by her brother, Robert "Bob" Jarrett and his wife Woodie of California; a sister-in-law, Jean Sarver of Florida; nieces, Melanie Dignan, Brenda Hudnall, Rachel Merrifield (Gary), Amy Rogers (Kevin) of Fairmont, and Stephanie Jankee (Jay) of California; nephews, Jamie Gross of Fairmont and Todd Jarrett (Melanie) of California. She is also survived by many special great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, William "Bill" Gross, Robert Gross, and Jim Gross; and sister-in-law, Betty Jones.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Heather Fitzwater and the staff of Fitzwater's Assisted Living. Thank you for treating Martha as you would a family member and for the wonderful care she received. A special thanks to Wendy Longwell, whom Martha thought the world of. The family would also like to thank WV Caring Hospice for your kindness in Martha's final days.
