Mary Alice Durand Smith, 91, of Fairmont passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021 at St. Barbara's Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah, WV.  She was born October 07, 1929, in Fairmont, WV, daughter of the late Gregory Durand and Mary Ann Grondolsky Durand Beach.

Mary was a hairdresser and owner of Hairland in Belview.

Mary is survived by her son, Talmadge (Tim) Smith and wife Lynn of Parshall, ND; a daughter, Deborah Coulter and husband Virgil of Morgantown, WV; four grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Christle Dennison, Jason Sanford, and Desiree' Burleson; six great grandchildren, Stacia White, Brandon Dennison, Tyler Summers, Jacob Burleson, Xavier Burleson, and Brandyn Burleson; three great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her step father, Robert Beach; two brothers, Leonard and Donald Durand, five sisters, Pauline Shipley, Margaret Cutrone, Evelyn Shriver, Jo Ann Thompson, and Janet Bragg; and a very special companion of 56 years, John Nash.

The family would like to give special thanks to St. Barbara's Nursing Home and Hospice Care for their loving care.
