Mary Elaine
Moore
Jul 8, 1947 — Apr 27, 2024
Mary Elaine Moore, 76, was called to heaven on April 27, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. She was the daughter of the late Leondus Chaney Sr and Viola Chaney.
Preceding her in death were her siblings, Leondus Jr, Carol, Charles, Ronney, Betty, and Judy. She has one surviving brother, Curtis Chaney and wife Charlotte.
Mary was known to most as Elaine. Elaine was baptized at an early age at Welcome Baptist Church in Chesapeake, WV. Her faith was a driving force in her life. Her heart and home was a welcoming refuge to her family. God filled her with a passion for life and she lived every moment with a fire and determination worthy of every heartbeat that she was blessed with. If you were lucky you got to hear her sing her favorite song "Just a Closer Walk with Thee." If you were really lucky, you got to see her dance, something she loved to do as much as anything else.
As she rests, we will not mourn, we will celebrate. Celebrate the times we were all blessed to be a part of one of God's mauder that he shared with us.
Elaine leaves to cherish her memories, three children, Vivian Chaney (Henry Freeman), Robert Chaney (Anna Chaney), and James Moore Jr.; eight grandchildren, Latesha Meade, Shaneka Penick (Parris Penick), Brooklyn Little (Van Jones), Trayvon Brown (Alyvia Stump), Felicia McKenley, Robert Chaney Jr., Nakia Holyfield, and Daminica Moore; 15 great grandchildren, Amore Adonis, Queen Alizabeth, Alcadies, King Aleric, Amazing Grace, Reighshawn, Zeighvier, Ziasha, Zamier, Zeighvier, Ziasha, Zamier, Jacere, Javien, Jakai, Reneisa, and Major; one great great grandson, Kymir; also a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Welcome Baptist Church on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The funeral will be at the church on Friday with Pastor Paul Mitchell officiating. The interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com.
