Mary L. Schmidt, 78, of Fairmont WV, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. She was born in Provo, UT on November 13, 1947, a daughter of the late Juan and Leonides Oseguera.

Mary was a nurses aide in Newton, NJ. She was Christian by faith and was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and was a member of the choir. She was a free spirit and enjoyed movies, reading, fashion, singing, taking photos, collecting dolls,  and dancing. Known by many, loved by all.  Mary had zest for life and the best smile that lit up any room.

Mary is survived by her children, Marlena Schmidt of Milford, PA and George Schmidt of Fairview, NJ; a grandson, Everett W. Lauster III of Milford, PA; sister, Juanita "Jenny" Rodriguez Gaither and husband Ron; and brothers, Anthony Oseguera and Abel Oseguera. She was an aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. Mary was also the youngest sibling of ten.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, George Michael Schmidt.

The family will receive friends at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 1660 Mary Lou Retton Drive in Fairmont, on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be at 1:00 p.m. with Father Romeo Bacalso officiating.
