Obituary

Michael Keith McDonald, 69, of Fairmont passed away Friday, May 17, 2019. He was born in San Diego, California on July 19, 1949, son of the late William Own McDonald and Violet Carla Knudsen McDonald.

Michael was a veteran of the United States Army and was in the United States Army Reserve for 23 years. He retired from the City of Fairmont Police Department after 10 years and retired from the United States Postal Service after 5 years. He enjoyed playing games and cards with his family and was a member of the VFW on Morgantown Avenue.

Michael is survived by his wife of 20 years, Barbara McDonald; children, Courtney McDonald, and Michael McDonald II; stepchildren, Missy Richards and her husband Aaron, Andrew Fluharty, Kathy McDaniel and her husband Tom; and Melody Long and her husband John; grandchildren, Dorothy and Carter Richards, Tommy McDaniel, Johnny Long, and Amanda Marino; several great grandchildren; a sister, Carla Reddick and her husband Jim; and a brother-in-law, Michael Wright and his wife Kelly.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Bill McDonald.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 21, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Evangelist Mark Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton where full military rites will be presented by the Marion County Honor Guard.
